Accessibility to the US border from Oakville is a one-hour drive along the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW Highway) where it connects at Lewiston, Niagara Falls or Buffalo, New York. The 
Greater Toronto International Airport is just a 30-minute drive from Oakville via express Highways 403, 407, or the QEW and 427. 

Average household income in Oakville is estimated at $89,000, about $25,000 more than the comparable GTA figure. The downtown is also home to one of two local harbours on Lake Ontario, which feature docks and slips for sail and powerboats.

Sheridan College main campus is located in Oakville, and provides a variety of education and training opportunities in  business, animation, engineering, arts, social sciences and technical fields. Sheridan College provides education to over 55,000 full and part-time students.
